The "Gender Role Portrayal and the Disney Princesses"examines the behavioral and physical characteristics as well as the outcomes of the movies. Studies show that the portrayal of males and females in these movies rely heavily on masculine and feminine characteristics. Although Disney Princess movies have expanded to include more diverse characters, the male characters still remain the same. I'm not surprised by this because of viewers' responses on the negative female portrayals, so movies focus less on changing male stereotypes.

Disney Princesses instill in girls false beliefs of romantic relationships and their physical appearance. Girls grow up watching theses seemingly innocent movies, while they subconsciously develop negative ideas of gender ideals. There have been many study conducted on young girls as well as articles that explore the gender stereotypes that Disney movies enforce.
